Piyo Piyo Productions presents: Rainbow Signal – Hi-Fi Set 8/30/17 https://www.otakubell.com/ Project notes: These are six loosely-related anime/live-action music videos from the band Hi-Fi Set. For the most part, they form a story about the love life of two cute dragons who live in a high-tech future city. This disc was released in 1985, right in the middle of Hi-Fi Set’s career (1974-1994), and features songs from that era (from their 1984 and 1985 albums Pasadena Park and Indigo). This disc seems to have been mastered in an unusual way. If you look at the unfiltered version, you’ll see a deep sawtooth pattern at the left and right edges of the screen – its hard to miss. You can still see some remnants in the second video, particularly around 05:00. These sawtooths seem to correspond to luma disturbances in the frame, mostly only noticible on blue skies, which the second video has plenty of. I’ve seen this sort of thing before, but this is particularly bad. But interestingly, I don’t think I saw any cross-chroma noise anywhere, which is quite rare. Maybe they traded off one for the other somehow? In any event, I did my best to blunt the issue, and wasn’t 100% successful, sorry. But if you’d like to try for yourself, I have included unfiltered high-bitrate DVD conversions in addition to the filtered x264 versions. BTW, Orphan needs help with translation and translation checking and stuff: https://collectr.blogspot.com/2016/05/backlogged.html is their current status post.

This is outstanding. Thank you for sharing. I don't download a lot of your stuff since I can't understand Japanese well (music is fine for me since it's more about ~feeling it~) but I love reading your descriptions about these random/obscure series.

Thanks. You may also like Radio City Fantasy, which is mostly music, but nyaa.si won't let me re-upload it, so you'll have to obtain it elsewhere.
