Careful Miya-san, she’s contagious!
Hayao “I heart military aircraft but not in an otaku way m’kay” Miyazaki’s timeless fable of ecological devastation and the valiant efforts of a young autistic kung fu scientist woman with a love for the bugs and fungi of her radioactive hell world.
This is a custom edition of the Animage laserdisc edition [98LX-1] of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (a.k.a. Warriors of the Wind, 1984), which offers a basic telecine of the film with pristine, vivid color grading not seen on any release since. The film is presented without video matting, so sometimes, things you’re not supposed to see in the animation seeps through, like this shot of the juvenile Ohmu/Gorgon:
So yeah, I went through the trouble of syncing up a buncha cool audio tracks, including a custom version of the actually-not-the-worst-thing-in-the-world-whatsoever abridged export dub written by the director of Crawlspace and produced by the ADR supervisor of a Godzilla film, where our plucky teenage heroine is voiced by a nasally midland accent woman in her forties (we love you Susan!), which you aren’t allowed to talk about anymore or else Toshio Suzuki and his army of hivemind weebs will mail you a prop katana.

720x480 4:3 3200kbps x264, 23.976p, manual IVTC, GOUT-synced to 2010/2014 Japanese BDs, so all audio tracks will sync to those releases.

FLAC Japanese - Animage Hi-Fi VHS (better fidelity than the analog-only LD)
FLAC Japanese - Stereo Drama CD audio (custom sync with some editorial liberties)

FLAC Music & Effects track

FLAC Commentary by key animator Hideaki Anno and assistant director Kazuyoshi Katayama (2003)

Kinda surprised no digital lasersdisc audio but VHS hifi is always a nostalgic cum bucket. Thanks bro!
