It's almost impressive how consistently poor the character writing is in this show.
The writer really likes to just keeping adding character after character, making them one note gag things like "This guy can only speak in food." "This guy speaks about animation because he has an animation power." while going up against generic 'demon' enemies for the most part. Just fight after fight with new characters that are about as cookie cutter as they get.
There was legitimately only one episode this entire season that had any development for the main trio and all we got was "The main character is even nice to fat girls." It feels like it's 90% filler, but instead of comic relief, it's just fights.
