Our previous release was based on the Japanese R2 DVDs, and it was time for an upgrade. It is still the same master, but it looks a lot better now given the higher resolution. Sadly it still has some scenes here and there from older master(s), but I think this Blu-ray is as good as we're going to get. And yes, it's 8 bit avc. I couldn't get it to look better with hevc, and 10 bit avc is a waste of money/energy, especially around the time it was encoded.
