K-On! / けいおん! BDRip Rework
S1-S2: 10-bit 1080p HEVC + FLAC + AAC, MKV format. ~ 850 MB / EP.
Official ENG + JPN PGS. Embedded AAC commentary tracks.
Movie: 10-bit 1080p HEVC + FLAC, MKV format. MOVIE ~ 4.0 GB.
Official JPN PGS, MKA contains FLAC 5.1 and three AC-3 commentary tracks.
Live: 10-bit 1080p HEVC + FLAC, MKV format. LIVE ~ 12.1 GB.
MKA contains FLAC 5.1.
We have re-encoded the entire K-On series, including the two main seasons, the movie, and the two live events.
Season 1 and some episodes from Season 2 have a native resolution of around 714.75p. The rest are 720p. We applied matrix inversion to descale the image down to its native resolution, then used high-quality reconstruction algorithms. This eliminated the aliasing and also improved the line art. Occasionally some colour bands can be seen in the dark scenes. We removed as many of them as possible while doing little damage to the textures. PP finished with adaptive de-noising.
The movie has an outstanding picture quality. There’s very little to worry about, so we only applied adaptive de-noising.

Thanks!

Thanks

Bullshit. Season 1 is so heavily postprocessed that it isn’t descalable. Only one scene in all of episode 1 is, and that scene is 720p native.

Update: it seems the claims of fractional res aren’t entirely off-base. However the explanation you laid out remains wrong: the show, at the very least S1, is mixed res. It’s likely that the spikes you got in each episode were merely by chance, and that both S1 and S2 are of mixed res, not 720p or one fractional resolution.

YOU are full of bullshit. [1]

Kyoto Animation upscaled 720p sources to 1088p, then cropped it to 1080p. They do so to remove ringings around the four borders. As a result, the native resolution is approximately 714.75. Anyone not aware of fractional resolutions yet posting descale-graphs as if it only handles integer resolution is just grossly misunderstanding this filter; that’s not even funny.
For a few exceptional cases, we have located them precisely and opted for alternative methods to deal with them in the post-processing. Feel free to waste your time in cherry-picking any visual drawbacks.

actual decent release compared to others that are in here. Thanks guys.

@VCB-Studio Much appreciation for this and your releases over the years. Thank you.

@VCB-Studio I apologise for the aggressive wording, however the explanation laid out in the description is, simply put, misleading and incorrect. I’ll gladly take your appropriately aggressive response, however it seems that my updated response was… entirely correct? So perhaps caliing what I’m saying “bullshit” in response is pretty off-base.

Thanks for the complete BD’s as well as including the specials :)

May I ask what software do you use to check the native resolution?

Thanks for sharing, quick question, no english subs for the Movie? (I see them for both seasons but just Japanese subs for the Movie).
321GameTime
Why does the movie not have English subtitles?
VCB-Studio (uploader)
The BD source of the movie has no English subs within; unlike the S1/S2.

Thank you!
