Here's a rare(ish) Toei gangster film starring Sonny Chiba: "Yakuza Deka," or Gangster Cop, from way back in 1970.
This rip was taken from the remastered UK DVD version of this film, and so are the soft subs. The subs are a vobsub rip from the DVD and were encoded in .idx and .sub, so I muxed them into the video the way they were. They don't look great, but they're there, and it's a professional translation, so that's what counts.
This film takes the old Yojimbo story (where the samurai plays the two feuding clans off each other) and swaps it to a modern-day urban setting, with Chiba playing the resident gangster who is switching between Yakuza clans and pitting them against each other. The other side of this coin is that he's actually an undercover cop, and Chiba shows why he's one of the best Japan ever had as he uses his high karate to mow through gangsters and cops alike. When his cover's blown, he goes on full offense, and the final car/jeep chase through Toei's trademark gravel pit is really something to see. Plus, Sonny actually tries to sing the opening song, which will either make you laugh out loud or make you grind your teeth in utter agony.
If you like the old Toei yakuza movies, and you liked my previous upload of "Jail Breakers," then you'll love "Yakuza Deka," and be sure to seed for a while after you're done!
