All credit goes to DameDesuYo, huge props to them. It's insane they're able to put out fansubs before the simulcast.
tbh what's more insane is how the most popular anime in years has the latest simulcast at like 6 hours late. but subbing something in 6 hours isn't that impressive really when it's 250 lines of dialogue and there's barely any signs to typeset. it was pretty common for subs to come out that quickly back before everything was simulcast.
@herkz To be fair, standards were also way lower, so it was way easier to write an awful script, barely edit it, and just release that without much complaint

i mean, i was talking about stuff i worked on, so not really. we released episodes of monogatari s2 in less than 6 hours all the time as long as there wasn't much typesetting and i doubt many people would say those subs were bad. it's just about having reliable people who can always show up right when a show airs without fail. also after doing it for a while you figure out how you can have basically every single part of the subbing process happen simultaneously. like the translator can be watching the episode and typing on a pad while the editor edits as soon as lines show up and a timer times it after the edits while making sure to edit the pad to match the linebreaks/joins they do. and obviously typesetting can do be done at the same time (especially with a second translator who focuses just on signs).
>then how come you couldn’t go back and edit them for the BD batch?
are you perhaps unfamiliar with how much new content there is to translate for the BDs?
>Also, is valerauko still subbing monogatari?
no but he really only worked on kizu (and one episode of nise that was delayed on CR for some reason that i forget)
>Cannot wait to see what kind of ending Isayama has in place. It will definitely be worth the wait!
If there is an ending this season that is. I keep hearing rumours about a movie.
It will have an ending for sure. They'd be stupid to not end it here when SnK is at its climax popularity-wise.
@herkz I know (since there's a BD release in Italian with proper subs) but I doubt it's that much more work. If you can speedsub monogatari with decent to good results then you should also be able to translate the new content and typeset it. It shouldn't take you more than a few months if people are available and even want to take it slow.
>if people are available
almost no sane translator (who isn't suffering from the dunning-kruger effect) wants to work on stuff written by nisio. and sadly the translators who worked on our monogatari releases before have all quit fansubbing.
@Interruptor S4P2 is [listed for 12 episodes](https://twitter.com/animetv_jp/status/1481781576384061440), so at this pace they're probably ending at chapter 131, then releasing S4P3 or a movie.
