159.1 GiB ...??... and I thought 2.8 Gb was too large for the FULL series DUB release.
It's alright for you "purists"...
look, admittedly Gosick is a brilliant series , but ... ... ...
SIZE isn't everything.
bigger doesn't mean better.
Live action movies in 1080p BrRip over 120 minutes can be had for under 2Gb , ... .
- and besides , not many folks have the luxury of ultra fast internet, or unlimited download bandwidth to play with.
It always baffles me every time I come across comments like the one made by @Trog, and the funny part is they are quite a lot.
Like why can’t you just move on and get that 2.8GB dub that you actually see as being too big for a 24 episode show.
It’s like they make it their sore duty to just come onto a release and whine their sorry asses on how they don’t have enough hard disk space or don’t have good enough displays that would justify them getting the higher quality encodes or remuxes.
Nobody wants to hear about how big the torrent is, I’m pretty sure we all have eyes and can at the very least read. It’s up to each and every individual to make their own informed decision on whether to download or not.
I’m all for remuxes and encodes, whatever looks better... but I’m not for encodes that prioritise space saving over quality, so you go and get those and not complain here.
Unless you’re here to give constructive criticism, no matter how bad or good, discuss stuff in a mature manner or to just simply download then honestly just shut the hell up.
*** to all you pedantic purists...
read the comment ... there was no mention of Storage Space
159Gb is unfortunately near 2 month download bandwidth where I am - no availability of unlimited downloading or ultra fast download speed !
and so, its pointless to even contemplate mega online upload storage either... and too bad for those users if internet outage etc. - you cannot access any files ;p
- today much simpler to buy another external HDD .
{ LOL - - - someone mentioned "floppy disks" ... ancient history flashback --- nearly 40 years back when we only had 8bit computers - yeah we did buy cartons of floppies as there were few options of hard drives for personal computers ( in 1984 a 20Megabyte HDD was nearly $1,000.00 ) }
@nya_zim
NO I do not comment "quite a lot" - my handle has been spoofed a couple of times . :(
The problem is, what’s the point of your first comment then? Since it looks like it’s slamming the uploader for uploading such a large torrent or the people who download such large torrents which you even went to the extent of labelling as “purists”.
Nyaa is a really nice place since it’s public and it caters to so many different users’ tastes. Just searching up “GOSICK” will return a buttload of releases from mini encodes, full blu-rays, high quality encodes, remuxes, filtered encodes, etc.
So for you to make it your mission to come on one of the REMUX releases to just complain that the torrent is too large just doesn’t make sense. You rarely ever see people complaining on smaller encodes unless if they are criticising on how bad the encodes are or whether there are better options at those sizes etc.
And for you to say it doesn’t make sense for it to be that large since in your words a 120 minute 1080p live action movie can be had for under 2 gig... well news flash, they don’t look good at such low bitrates, riddled with pixelated graphics, artifacts and problems like banding in dark scenes. Even Netflix doesn’t look good in dark scenes most of the time and I stream the 4K one. It does try but once you see them, you really can’t un-see them.
Different people different circumstances. Some users here watch their anime/movies on 200 inch screens with $10,000+ projectors in dedicated cinema rooms so they prioritise quality over size (be it Encodes or REMUX)... some watch them on their 4K TVs, some on 1080p TVs , some watch on phones, etc. It’s all up to the end user and their needs, and what they perceive as good in their eyes.
For starters, this show is roughly 570 minutes to 600 minutes.
If you had just said it’s big, and wasn’t for you then that’d have been all fine, but then you made a point to make it clear that it wasn’t worth it.
I didn’t mean you specifically, just that these comments of “it’s too big” are very common on these REMUX releases.
@fuee, pretty much the same setup mentioned by @Tesseract. GSuite + SeedBox. Then I pair it with Rclone mount for when I’m on Windows (RaiDrive or Google File Stream are other options) or Infuse for when I’m on iOS or on TvOS, which pretty much works like PLEX but looks way better (check out Infuse 7, it looks stunning).
On Android I use nPlayer, and I also sometimes use it on iOS too.
okay,
don't get your knickers in a knot.
I was going to add - ( but I do have a work life outside of the internet which keeps me from making quick replies )
... many years back I did get into using a lot of camera film.
I do know the difference it makes using "fast film" like 400ASA to 1000ASA for low light conditions which gets terribly grainy - or in digital terms pixellated , for any pics larger than a postcard size.
and If you want to display it in a larger format like projected images use slow film below 100ASA and the image stays crisp .
If I had the need for a projected image like in a cinema onto a 15+Mtr screen - then there may be a purpose for the uber format rips.
I did not try to put down the obvious hard effort the uploaders have made .
and finally on this topic
IF someone can afford a large 4k TV and $10k projector - they most likely would be buying the original disk releases anyway
;/

“They most likely” .... doesn’t mean they won’t.
Not everyone wants to spend coin on every BDMV there is, considering how expensive JPBD’s usually are, about $200~ for a 12 episode season and since they don’t come with subs most of the time, you’d have to rip them, which is a slow process (10MBps if I’m not mistaken for about 80gb if it’s JPBD). Then repacking then into MKV’s, sourcing and adding subs and sometimes syncing dubs...
So if there’s a site which has all this stuff done for you, why not utilise it?
