@Aryma Un-sussed. ;^)
Please correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure she uses a slang for 挙動不審(kyoudoufushin) which literally means acting suspiciously, so translating it as "acting sus" is correct and the obvious option for me, why people hate it so much?
@KaitouXZ Because one, sus wasn't, and isn't, a common phrase is conversation between anyone who isn't a cringy kid who constantly uses slang to act cool/constantly references internet slang and humor.Two, because we all know that it wouldn't've had "sus" in it if it wasn't for among us. Crunchy never used sus before.
What is: Gyaru subculture for 100, please
@Guysaboss "kid who constantly uses slang to act cool/constantly references internet slang and humor." Do you understand gyarus are basically this right? And that she's 15? Also while not common "sus" have been used in the past long before Among Us, and I don't remember hearing the word she uses before, so not sure how it would have been translated in the past. I would guess either they would go with "acting sus" or just ignore the slang and go with "acting suspiciously" or something similar. Either way it would have the correct meaning, but the first shows better the way she talks.

@KaitouXZ I'm explaining it publicly for around the sixth time now, but oh well. So, we are aware, that "sus" isn't **incorrect** translation, far from it, as you explained it above. But, the reason why it's bad, is because when you're translating, you have to localize the subs, in a sense to make the conversation fluid and easily understandable in the target language, while phrasing the lines to fit the characteristics of each characters. This is hard work. We know, that the word "sus" has already existed, but it has been generalized, popularized and associated with Among Us and memes about the game, with their massive overuse of the word. When in 2021, you say "sus" everyone, and by everyone I mean everyone who used the internet in the past year, will associate it with Among Us. Back to localizing, when something is used as a meme in your target language, you have to work around it. Making Nagatoro say "sus," is incorrect, because in English, it implies things that are not there. Associating her with something, that she shouldn't be associated with. It is bad translator practice. You have no idea, how many times things like this happen, when translating between two widely different languages, such as Japanese and English. The only reason this is such a big deal with this particular line is because "haha animu gurl said funny amogus word". There's a reason that subtitling have 3 stages of dialogue creation. #1 Translation, you get that. #2 Translation checking, that's pretty straightforward too. #3 Editing. That's what matters here. If someone already translated it, and someone else already checked that the translation is in fact correct, why would you need a third guy to edit it? Because editing is translating English to English. Getting rid of weird lines, things that doesn't make sense in English, rephrasing or entirely rewriting wordplays and sayings.

But even if, none of the above matters, and someone deems that everything I just said is incorrect in their opinion, my biggest reason, to why we got rid of that line is, that because we wanted to. We are the ones making these subs. So we create them in a way we like it, and we think it's fine. And if someone disagrees, well, do it. I can't change your mind or your opinion. You are free to have it. Just as much as we are free to make subs the way we want. -Zahuczky (It didn't fit in one comment.)
Don't worry about it Zahuczky, you and everyone else at BullySubs have been doing a terrific job with the translation and subtitling. I don't know why KaitouXZ doesn't understand that things can't be perfectly translated between two different languages but it doesn't matter since this is a terrific release (ignoring any video issues due to it being based on a WEB release). Would you be planning on redoing the encodes for Episode 1 and 2 sometime in the future since you now have Edge on the team?

@GeezYourYoghurtIsNotYummyAtAll Thank you very much. Also, v2 encodes for ep1 and ep2 are already done by Edge. Expect v2 for both in the next 12 hours.
Thanks for the work on Nagatoro so far. I'm really glad it's getting the subbing it deserves, and your releases thus far have been nothing but quality. Not to mention quite fast as well. I look forward to the rest from you guys!
Thanks for the new release Bullysubs. I've been watching your subs since the 1st episode release and I'm quite happy with what you have done, including the fun with the subs on last episode. Looking forward to see the end of the season with you.

@itamar1324 Can you please specify what do you mean by that? If it's an encode problem, we will try to improve it for our upcoming releases.
@bullysubs nvm it was probably a problem on my end . i tried to see that on my sister's computer now and its not there Whoops
the "sus" word is not even that bad people who complain about this probably won't be able to give a substitute it other than suspicious.

@itamar1324 and also @EveryoneWhoWatchFansubs Make sure to use the latest mpv (https://mpv.io/) while playing back any fansubbed anime. Or well, any anime to be precise. MPC-HC used to be a good option, but fansubbers are trying to shift away from VSFilter, and bring everything to Libass, which is not supported by MPC-HC. Libass is mostly VSFilter compatible, so while you can play back stuff with players that use VSFilter, the subs will probably won't look as good, as it was intended by the subber. Also, in MPV the videos look much better too, than in MPC-HC.
