Update: This upload is basically obsolete, as [JysZe's release](https://nyaa.si/view/1492120) has superior video and more audio options. I recommend you download that instead of this.
>If my understanding is correct, what mp3dom said would also mean that the bitrate is better utilized/spread out on the ITBD, leading to the absence of blocking artifacts in darker areas on it. It’s most likely not the only thing that makes mp3dom’s encode superior, but maybe one of them? Please correct me if I’m wrong here!
The fact that IT BD is mostly progressive encoded 24p/30p (+ small amount of 60i footage) is IMO the biggest advantage. JP BD picture quality can be deteriorated by the deinterlacer.
P.S. Fuck the Funimation BD. Still feeling buyer's remorse after all these years. At least it's useful for the dub/sub tracks.
@scav I guess meaning there's less chance of getting combing artifacts on the ITBD, since there are less scenes to actually deinterlace? mp3dom really is brilliant.
And yeah the Funi BD seems baffling to me. I wonder if they just have incompetent people working there at this point...
Yes, all that needs to be deinterlaced are the 60i shots and there are only very few of those.
One thing to note about the 60i shots is that these have a temporal resolution of 60p. It's imo better to deinterlace to 60p. Deinterlacing to 30p reduces smoothness and also introduces distortions (See ep #19 Wild Horses 00:16:16.909 - 00:16:20.379 & 00:18:17.296 - 00:18:23.269).
By distortions do you mean the scanlines? (not sure if that's the correct term for them) I noticed the [screenshot of the usbd](https://i.imgur.com/tZWSKRn.jpg) that mp3dom posted on fandompost had those horizontal lines all over the place. They're there because it's been forcibly deinterlaced to 23.976p I reckon. The ITBD doesn't have the lines unless I force the deinterlacer to use film mode in MadVR. Do those shots have a temporal resolution of 30p on the JPBD?
Seems like mp3dom thought of everything when he worked on Bebop though.
No. If you for example deinterlace [00:16:16.909 - 00:16:20.379] to 30p, the stars in the background will flicker. [It's noticeable in this release where the 60i parts were converted to 30p](https://nyaa.si/view/425874). Deinterlacing [00:18:17.296 - 00:18:23.269] to 30p also introduces distortions in the background, not to mention that it's not smooth because of the reduced framerate.
The JP BD and UK BD are 60i and keep the temporal resolution of 60p in those shots.
Oh I was way off :D I got episode 19 from that upload and I think I get what you mean now. The stars flicker weirdly and some of them seem to even disappear completely on some frames. The difference in smoothness is also noticeable. Well spotted!
@Kulot99 Thank you, appreciated. Thanks also for uploading your improved Gundam subtitles btw, if I end up getting and uploading the [UHD edition](https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Mobile-Suit-Gundam-The-Movie-Trilogy-Blu-ray/263754/) I'll definitely use them.
@moonship Movie will be coming later this week/early next week.
Thank you very much for the job
Have a dude about the italian bd, has it the NCOP of the series ? (because non present on other bd versions), if yes could you extract it and put a direct download ?
@hydes Hey Any reason the ... this is 24bit audio and I am not sure why its not included in your release it is on my jp remux
Audio: DTS 48000Hz 6ch 6912kbps [A: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 [eng] (dts-hd ma, 48000 Hz, 5.1, s24) [default]]
Audio: PCM 48000Hz stereo 2304kbps [A: LPCM 2.0 [jpn] (pcm_s24le, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, s24, 2304 kb/s)]
It's unbelievable we don't have a untouched Dynit Version of Cowboy Bebop with smaller file size!
Same thing with Akira!!! I know some people hate grain but c'mon!!!
