Mp3dom (who did [Akira's 30th Anniversary Edition](https://nyaa.si/view/1337669) and all the [other exceptional releases](https://nyaa.si/user/hydes) by Dynit) worked on this release of Redline, so you know it's going to be good. Comparisons: [ITBD vs JPBD](https://slow.pics/c/BcxGo1jA)|[ITBD vs glm8892's BD Remux](https://slow.pics/c/edkFwR6B)|[ITBD vs encoded uploads](https://slow.pics/c/CAGP9utl) (ITBD pics in the comparison with encoded uploads taken in MPC-HC with a Pan&Scan zoom value of 1.0290) Evident from the comparisons is that the ITBD is king. Glm8892's remux has a noticeably lower bitrate (29.99mbps vs 34.85mbps on the ITBD), visible artifacting, and more banding in darker areas. It also seems to have been filtered. (Denoised or something maybe? Someone more knowledgeable will have to confirm though, as I'm not sure) [Tsukiyomi's remux](https://nyaa.si/view/1151055) most likely suffers from the same problems as glm8892's, since it's around the same file size, suggesting they're from the same Bluray. I haven't done any comparisons between them though, so take my word with a grain of salt. As far as I know, every home release of Redline is windowboxed, and the Dynit BD is no exception in that regard, but it seems [there's a reason for it](https://twitter.com/NLScavenger/status/1319604029417193472). It's not a huge issue, but if you would rather watch with the screen fully filled on a 16:9 1080p monitor/TV, you can apply a zoom of 0.044 in mpv and its variants. If you're using regular mpv and don't know how to edit the default zooming settings, add the following lines to your "input.conf" file: Ctrl+, add video-zoom 0.001 Ctrl+. add video-zoom -0.001 After adding these lines you'll be able to control the zooming with CTRL + "," / "." (You can of course replace the keys and values with whatever suites you personally) For MPC-HC you can apply the correct zoom by going to the "Pan&Scan" tab and clicking on "Edit". Then create a new preset and set both zoom values as 1.0290 ([example](https://i.imgur.com/GJmuxGh.png)). Remember though that If you do zoom in, you'll also be zooming in on the parts that aren't windowboxed I.e. the intros and the credit sequence. You won't be missing anything major, but it's still good to be aware of it. To my knowledge all zooming is also lossy, so you'll lose some sharpness in the picture, but it shouldn't be too bad (noticeable even?) because you're not zooming by a whole lot. All the other encoded uploads on Nyaa are zoomed-in anyway, so compared to them there shouldn't be any additional sharpness loss. If anyone knows of an easier way of dealing with the windowboxing, let me know and I'll update my stuff. On another note, as I don't own a Redline BD with the Japanese 2.0 audio track, nor was I able to find a lossless version of it, the best I could conjure for this upload was the compressed AC-3 from Deadmau- RAWS' release. If you have a lossless or even a 640kbps Dolby Digital variant of the track and are willing to share, please do! I'd be happy to add it here. I've also included the two documentaries done on Redline, both taken from glm8892's remux upload. I highly recommend giving them a watch, especially the one-hour "Perfect Guide to Redline". It really shows you the passion the creators had for this movie. *Seven years*, people! As per usual, also included is the OST album in FLAC. Man, that ending song is still a banger... ### Specifics of this release All tracks were retimed to match the ITBD when needed. Video: 1. IT BD Remux (1920x1080, 23.976fps) Sound: 1. Why not just cut the frame instead of zooming? Thora's is 1860x1044 for this reason.

User
@Slysoft, I guess you could do that using ffdshow's cropping function, but wouldn't it essentially give the same results as zooming?
Idk I just know that thora cropped their encode and it looks fine to me.
Is there any way to get rid of the horrible black bars on VLC?
@Risero1 Download THORA.
Anyone seeding this?
Here's english Signs & Songs subtitles if anyone wants them (just removed all dialogue from kuchikirukia subs): https://mega.nz/file/yx0klbQI#Sa8QdKI2tyuLj7Nl6EADtSxKsJsJjNE7skwNvNNlLA8
