720x480 is not 16:9.
16:9 is 848x480.
720x480 is the dvd standard for the region, and then the anamorphic flag sets it to either 640x480 or 848x480 upon playback.
Thus your labeling of the screenshots is inaccurate.
You’re confusing square pixels and rectangle pixels.
That said, the show was definitely animated with 16:9 in mind, thus why the DVDs are anamorphic and set to morph to 16:9.
Which is why your 4:3 resize screens shots look so squished that it makes everyone look anorexic.

@ChaoXide
Yes you are right about the DVD specs. But It’s my opinion that they look fat, So I left the file RAW, not encoded for others to use.
ChaoXide
my point was
4:3

16:9 (actual)

what you said was 16:9

Mr_Kimiko (uploader)
@ChaoXide
Say what you want but It’s my opinion that they look fat.
Happy? I fixed the label.
Mr_Kimiko (uploader)
@ChaoXide
Fuck no. this is the 1st ever 16:9 show That I feel that they look fat. I never said that they should be ‘Anorexic’.
So don’t go putting words in my mouth.
tyroz
Honestly, releasing a show with the wrong aspect ratio is almost like you’re asking for nasty comments…
But in this case I’d say ChaoXide hasn’t been too harsh on you.
Just because you don’t like the character design, doesn’t mean you need to alter the aspect ratio. :)
herkz
lmao

@tyroz
I never said I don’t like the character design. He deleted two of his comments.
I knew people were going to shit talk me. I’m posting this just to see if people would like what I have to offer and it’s not encoded so you can do what you want with the file. You can even take the tag of the forced 4:3 off.
surume
fukkk you the specs thanks for the upload
Mr_Kimiko (uploader)
@surume
What’s this? 50% Shitpost & 50% Thanks
IDK WTF Anymore.
tyroz
Well, you can always alter the aspect ratio on playback, that’s correct, regardless if it has been reencoded or not. (That actually doesn’t matter). That’s why it’s a silly choice to force it to the wrong aspect ratio.
Anyway, the characters look different at 4:3, and since you don’t like how they look at the correct aspect ratio, it lead me to believe you don’t like the character design.
It’s okay if you want to do your own thing, but if something doesn’t make sense, you will get comments about it. You will just have to deal with it.
Ken-Sama
It’s not and has never been.
ChaoXide
@Ken-Sama
848x480 is the mod16 resolution for 16:9 at 480p. 853/854 is technically closer, yes, but it’s not mod16, thus why 848 became the typical standard.
Ken-Sama
It’s not 2003 anymore. 1080p isn’t mod16 either.
ChaoXide
Who cares. Doesn’t change facts.
Instead of attempting to spread misinformation, perhaps spend this time encoding something.
onigiri
fook you Mr_kimiko
Ken-Sama
Not sure what you’re on about. You can grab any anamorphic NTSC DVD and clearly see that it’s supposed to play at 853x480. You’re the one parroting mod16 memes from the xvid era.
ChaoXide
lol that changes absolutely nothing I’ve stated…
but sure, okay you go encode 853x480
Nokou
Thanks for this…
tyroz
You’re all wrong, according to dvd specs it should be 875x480! >:o
Dakara
I’m going to watch this. So I don’t care about other stuffs.
notrem
Anamorphic 4:3 stretches to 720x540, plus DVDs could be stretched to any aspect ratio, There is no standardized resolution its meant to stretch to. If you’re going to correct someone you might as well make sure you have your facts right.
Scyrous
Not that I particularly care, but you’ve quit so many times at this point, why continue? Clearly you’re fed up with the criticism you keep receiving.
Mr_Kimiko (uploader)
@Scyrous
Where have you been?
I’ve been back for some time now. (https://nyaa.si/view/1233578)
RJS

Scyrous
Might seem weird, but I don’t keep track of your uploads. I just happened to come across this and decided to comment.
shiroi8
the original SAR 3:2 looked better to me tho
crocskink
@shiroi8
Yes, but it meant to be played at DAR = 16:9 and it looked even better
