Dual-audio remux featuring my own 1080p encodes and modified BlurayDesuYo subtitles. As with seasons 1 and 2, I scenefiltered a good amount of scenes to lower the average bitrate and protect 1080p elements from filters that would otherwise damage them. Filtering is mostly the same as well, except I switched to adaptive denoising and adaptive graining.
For whatever reason, the English audio is smaller compared to seasons 1 and 2. All channels (except LFE) seem to have an average bitdepth of 17 bits instead of the usual 20. It doesn’t sound worse by any means, but I felt obligated to point it out in case someone noticed it.
For the subtitles, I restyled the dialogue to match prior seasons, added some dialogue effects (blur/fades), fixed a few typos and missing italics, updated the first OP with official lyrics (thanks to kBaraka) and modified the typesetting. I had to retime episode 20 in its entirety as there were virtually no lead-ins present (most likely the result of the dialogue being timed to a faulty WEB audio/video sync). Big thanks to basheer_naimi for the great QC as per usual.
By far the biggest change in the typesetting can be seen when the midcards are shown. Rather than covering up the kanji with an ugly mask or moving the English text to an awkward position, I decided to remove the kanji by hand using Photoshop (here’s an example). I also added a layer of grain to cover up the original JPEG-like artifacts in the source. I thought of softsubbing the Photoshopped images, but in the end it looked pretty dreadful, especially when resized. I did softsub the English text, however, as I saw no reason to hardsub it (plus, this would’ve prevented people from modifying it). Admittedly, I took some artistic liberties in episode 3 and 6 (these midcards turned out to be too complex to clean up), but other than that the midcards are faithful to the originals.
I also have plans to release one giant batch containing all seasons in a few years, once Attack on Titan is fully adapted and all the Blu-Rays are out. There’s a lot of inconsistencies I’d like to fix (subtitle styling, terminology, character names, typesetting, encodes, etc).
Enjoy!

@dummy_dum_dum Thanks for your expert opinion on it being unnecessary ! I’m glad we don’t all have to think like you. Some of us can afford proper hard drives! I think your user name says it all. Next time save your comments for releases and files sizes more in your budget range capabilities. Believe it or not some of us like quality!!!

Thank you! Had to wait for your release before watching season 3.
Will you be uploading the No Regrets OVA if they become available?
I’ve been looking but can’t find a HD version.

Stunning release! Best encode for Attack on Titan. Loving the attention to detail with the midcards!

No progress. I gave up on that project long ago. Couldn’t find any good and reliable editors/timers who were willing to commit to 20 movies and counting.
I might encode all of the OVAs at one point or another. Kinda depends on whether or not I can get the tech I plan to use to work.
Note that the OVAs were only released on DVD. Any sort of HD version you might find is either a DVD upscale or a TV airing. For No Regrets in particular, I believe the 720p TV encodes from SOFCJ are still the best.

vikrant9760
@scyrous will your next release be the VE movie?
Scyrous (uploader)
@vikrant9760 - I will do it eventually, but I am working on other things first. And there’s no need to post the same question on multiple torrents :P
vikrant9760
@Scyrous my bad mate, there was a net issue at that time and didn’t realize my comment on this one actually got through since it wasn’t showing for me!
Also, gladly waiting for whatever you do next thanks <3
Please take your time with VE movie and when you feel like it, the fact that you plan on doing is grateful enough in the first place

When you eventually make a release of the entire series, can you please use a sans serif font for the base subs? This serif is just a bit too big and just a bit too thin to be comfortably legible, at least in my opinion. Thanks for all your work!
Scyrous (uploader)
@SnowyNix
I think I might switch to the font used in my Vinland Saga release. I definitely prefer it over this one. I get your point, but at the same time I’m not sure if a sans serif fonts fits the show as a whole. I’ll have to think about it!

XYsubfilter / MadVR really chokes on the OP karaoke subtitles.
Anyone have any idea what settings can be changed to make them render smoothly?
running 9900k/3070ti.

thanks

@djc5166, switch to AssFilterMod which uses libass or to mpv for better rendering.
