Thank you, and now i'm waiting someone to convert this to the .mkv version.

"@azusa_miura I already did." Yeah- and you compressed the holy fucking shit out of it. Jesus fucking christ!!! BTW-thanks for the awesome download zohead!!
@zrdb Please do show me the heavy compression artifacts. It'd be appreciated. Also way to forget that I also contributed to this purchase. Classy. EDIT: [Here's a comparison between the BDMV and my encode for Episode 1](https://slow.pics/c/N4KnBFIr). Encode was done using crf=15 with no limiters, so you can hardly say I "compressed the holy fucking shit out of it". Note that the slightly downward shift is due to the way the rescaling is handled (the native resolution is a fractional resolution. 872.5p to be exact, so I compensated for that while descaling). There are only 2 scenes that seem affected by compression artifacting. One of those is Enkidu's lightning (Comparison 93), which is definitely not noticeable during playback. The other is the mountain range near the end (Comparison 125), which is also hardly noticeable during playback (heck, hardly noticeable unless you're looking at very specific parts of the frame even on a still screenshot, no less). Next time, please do some actual comparisons rather than instantly jumping on the filesize meme. That said, if you're in the realm of needing to pixelpeep to notice a difference, then I think the encoder probably did a fairly good job, wouldn't you say? Not all shows need to be over 1GB at 1080p (rather, very few actually do) to look good and have very little, if any, compression artifacting. Babylonia with its overall very flat artstyle is definitely one of those shows.
Let's just say that taking a 7gb m2ts and reducing it down to less than 1gb isn't a good thing unless you have a super slow internet connection or you simply can't afford another hdd. I like my stuff uncompressed as it comes from the bd source. Basically I'd say we're discussing apples and oranges here.
>I like my stuff uncompressed as it comes from the bd source. Basically I’d say we’re discussing apples and oranges here. thanks for memes.
Except I just showed you why it is and you flat-out ignored it, despite being the one to fire the first shot. If you prefer bloating your hard drives with something that can be compressed to far lower with very little, if any, detail loss (that you likely wouldn't even notice), that's your prerogative. But don't for a second actually fall for the filesize meme, especially with how inefficient Blu-rays are at bitrate distribution lmao.
Sorry guys-for me bigger is better. It's like the old argument that most people can't tell the difference between lossless audio and lossy formats like aac or mp3, truth is if you train your ears you can tell the difference. There might not be a big difference between "re-encoded" video and the uncompressed source but considering that any disc based video be it dvd, bluray or uhd bluray is compressed already it's really a moot point. If the only reason you're re-encoding video is to save space that kinda stupid unless you have really slow internet speeds. And then there's always the question of how well the disc was mastered-if you're Justin Sevakis or a know nothing hack.....! If nobody wanted raw bluray rips then why would anybody even bother to upload and download them here? I've tried my hand at re-encoding video many time using various profiles from high motion scenes like the 2 Fate movies that have a ton of action and managed to only cut the 35 gig raw file by a third. Point is that all this competition to see who can get the smallest file size is like a bunch of little boys at a playground bragging about who has the biggest dick. I simply like raw files if I can get them-meme or not. Ciao
And with this you've proven that you didn't so much as look at the comparison or know how to do any kind of advanced video encoding beyond picking profiles in ffmpeg. My encode was thoroughly filtered to fix up artifacting present in the master, and the best part? I used crf=15 and super weak denoising (basically next to none, just enough to barely shave off most of the basically invisible dithering), so it's not like I've even been going out of my way to get small files; the contrary, I was expecting way bigger! As for why people want raw blu-ray rips, it's because most don't notice the issues because they don't know what to look out for and they want rips fast. Encoders use BDMVs because they're in almost all cases the highest-quality source you're gonna get. Anime's got a lot of awful mastering processes, so you're practically always gonna need to fix it up. If you're arguing from a live-action perspective it'd make some degree of sense, as you don't get that shit as often. But anime? Nice meme, man. Next time you cast the first stone, at least have the backbone to also look at comparisons brought before you and talk about the actual encode; not just the filesize. Until then, there's literally no point in even arguing with you, as you're unwilling to even look at what the opposition is showing you.
You obviously care about video quality-dare I saw you are an aficionado? I obviously don't care about file size and I don't go over each frame with a magnifying glass looking for little imperfections. Belive it or not I do know about different encoding profiles, filtering, deblocking etc. And anime is a complex rendering process with all the different elements involved-of course we both know that! My preferences lean more to audio and subtitles than video-if it looks good I'm happy and most blurays are good enough. Time to put this to bed.
Thanks for the full BDMV, finally I can watch it without worrying about "artifacts"
