A version 2 of the subs is available here: https://files.catbox.moe/mohe5x.ass It contains some minor corrections, some fixes made with more help from lerusso (who speaks Japanese), and some lines rewritten with help from the [subs released by [Tezu]](https://nyaa.si/view/1187429) (which I only did because the translations for Case 3 were already so similar). =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The subs in this torrent are also available here: https://files.catbox.moe/dndumj.ass They should be compatible with any of the raws that come from the blueray (which should be all of them…) Subs are translated to English by jumpman171 who is over on reddit. Some proofreading and editing by me, Shinratensei1602, and larusso. **jumpman171 does not speak Japanese and these subs were created with the assistance of machine translators, context, English fluency, and knowledge of Psycho-Pass**. This translation is not lazily done and is far from just running the entire script through MTL... The English should be coherent and research has gone into many of the lines to determine what translation should go there. I don't speak Japanese so I don't really know the potential extent of mistranslations present in these subs, but I do feel like I fully understand the important bits of the movie. These have already been proofed by Shinratensei1602, the one who has helped a lot with improved versions of cases 1 and 2. These subs have also been proofed by lerusso who knows Japanese and helped find and correct a bunch of slight to slightly less slight mistranslations. So hopefully any mistranslations still in these subs are minor... and hopefully a version 2 won't be needed. In case you are unaware... Different subs from someone who knows Japanese are being worked on... EdoPhantom has translated the [first ~4 minutes](https://www.reddit.com/r/Psychopass/comments/dji90q/psychopass_ss_case_3_opening_scene_eng_sub/) and says that they will translate all of Case 3 "without relying on machine translations" but, "don't expect a release until November." When this "sneak peek" was released, Jumpman171 had already finished translating that scene. Of course the two are worded quite differently, but overall they are mostly saying the same things line by line so for this scene either they are both right or are both mistranslated. Go compare those 4 minutes yourself if you want. The main difference is probably that EdoPhantom's uses more 'localized' English phrases and incorporates things like accents, which is not a bad thing and many people might prefer that type of localization even if they don't realize it. For example, it states "the road less travelled" where Jumpman171's states "a rough road"... and as far as I can tell the original Japanese is not making a Robert Frost reference, but Idk... lines like that could be more recognizable/colorful to some English speakers... and they also might be slightly less accurate/literal all things considered. Without relying on machine translations EdoPhantom's version might convey some nuances better and or might have fewer accidental mistranslations (*if* this one does still have any actual mistranslations after all the proofing)... We won't know for sure until EdoPhantom's is released. Also... recently a discord server has been made for Psycho-Pass. So anyone interested in that sort of thing should check it out: https://discord.gg/8nBTZFy

polishing MTL, the road less traveled.
delete this, thanks
@herkz I'd like to give them credit for this work. I don't know how good your Japanese is but I can assure you this one is good. I proofread this work against the original (I speak Japanese, too, you know) and helped them correct virtually all mistranslations. You don't have to say that harsh criticism just because you see a word MTL in the comment. Another group has subbed the opening scene and I saw the most part is the same as this one, in every single word... except their use of localized language as in "rotten" "f__king" and "[a] road less traveled" (for which I'd rather "a" than "the"). I certainly hope that you encourage their efforts, too.
LOL are you trying to ask @herkz to NOT be a cynical hate-spreading douchebag? Good luck with that, he's a cancer. Thanks OP, right in time for Season 3 tomorrow!
me thinks herkz needs to get laid, such aggression. ;)
no, anyone who thinks machine translation is good should fuck off forever
@herkz I agree with you. I certainly don’t think machine translation is good. And that’s why I decided to chip in to make this one good. This one is as good as anyone can get. See it to believe it.
judging by the description there's someone doing an actual translation so how is this as good as it gets?
@herkz The subs are bad, we all know this. I just question why you care so much about what other people upload.
so people know they're bad before downloading them
Thank you very much! ♥
people who upload MTL trash should be perma banned and deleted from real life
In Case 3, the story takes place in a remote county and every person speaks plainly. No memes, high-tech terms, military slangs or legal jargons. There are only references to Japanese old sayings and their history, which people in the 22nd century would have never heard of. We can’t add sparks to such dry scripts because that’s the style in Case 3. So the translation just needed to be accurate in meaning and in context. I left many parts of the translation as they were as long as the sentence was correct and standard. I rewrote many lines that were mistranslated. As far as those parts I left out are concerned, I don’t see critical differences in terms of accuracy and style between this one and the other: in fact many sentences are quite similar and some are even identical. The difference is that one was entirely of genuine translation and the other was the mixture of edited MTL and actual translation. Although they both look similar or even identical in some parts, one was praised and the other one was trashed, merely by the description and not by its contents. Such humble experience helps to build characters. Move on.
