They should be compatible with any of the raws that come from the blueray (which should be all of them...)
Subs are translated to English by jumpman171 who is over on reddit. Some proofreading, editing, and remuxing by me.
**jumpman171 does not speak Japanese but translated line by line with the use of machine translators, context, and knowledge of English/Psycho-Pass to turn broken machine assisted translations into coherent English.**
So the ultimate product should read naturally to English speakers, but is probably riddled with slight mistranslations that someone who knows Japanese would notice. I personally think this is passable, but of course a more proper translation by someone who knows Japanese should be more faithful to what characters are saying. Such a translation would be highly appreciated. I can't know how missed the translations are in this because I barely know any Japanese. I do feel like I completely understand what happens in the movie though.
I helped with this because I want to understand the contents of the movies before season 3 drops, and because if I don't do it, someone might create a low quality encode with hard subs and a weird font which will end up being the video most people watch.
File list
Psycho-Pass Sinners of the System Case 2.ass (1.8 MiB)
Lol, If you don't want to watch something derived from machine translations don't watch it. If Psycho-Pass season 2 had season 1 levels of quality I wouldn't be touching these kinds of things with a 10 foot pole.
And at I least I've made it clear that these are not 'propper' subs unlike the person who uploaded that weird font video of the first movie and even titled it as 1080p even though it was 720p. If machine translation get banned people will just claim that they are not machine translated and things will get more confusing. Good luck having people 'grade' the quality of subs to determine if they are derived form a machine translation. If they're are going to go that far they might as well translate it themselves. And good luck removing the only "translated" torrent after a bunch of people have already downloaded it.
I'm still puzzled about how weeks after these have been available no fan sub group, or even just someone who knows Japanese, want to so much a state that they will sub them... Especially with season 3 coming out so soon and taking place after the movies.
Thanks for this. You've come a long way but jeez, still have a few extra miles to clean up all those mistranslations, and to make it flow natural.
Speaking of the names, "Ginoza" should be "Nobuchika" and "Suita" has to be "Fukita." An expression of "Chakasandekureyo" can be just, "Don't be kidding," instead of "I was watching during tea time (whatta!)." And the list goes on. Tell me if I can help: you can find me on Discord.
I hope some fan sub groups are on it.
maybe no fansubbers want to sub this because season 2 was shit and now no one cares about season 3
anyway, even if someone was subbing it, actual fansubbing takes a lot of time, and it's unlikely you could sub all 3 movies before season 3 airs anyway
Thank you very much for your work and patience! ♥
It's sad to see how demanding users/leechers can be. One would think they're paying for your time and service and not only getting it for free. :/
«Good luck having people ‘grade’ the quality of subs to determine if they are derived form a machine translation.» Easy when you can understand 80% of Japanese tho.
And you are gonna ask why I take subs then, as always. Well simply because the 20% lack imply vocabulary that i never heard of, which is particulary present in seinens like psycho pass ...
>It’s sad to see how demanding users/leechers can be. One would think they’re paying for your time and service and not only getting it for free. :/
i don't know why i have to keep repeating this, but machine translating something isn't a "service." literally anyone can do it with no skill.
just finished it, it was great! maybe 2 or 3 errors, nothing serious.
congrats again to you and the other people that made this possible
and thanks to the MLT stuff you used as well! really great + making salty losers saltier

Using machine translator is very easy. I did it myself many times before.
There is free application that auto translate any sub to any language using google engine
https://www.nikse.dk/subtitleedit
I hope nyaa bans people who use machine translation. It pointless and useless and can easily done by yourself (unless you are retard and lazy). Machine translation are not too bad if you are watching hentai or fanservice anime, but for serious and story driven anime like Psycho-Pass I rather watch proper subs.
> Using machine translator is very easy. I did it myself many times before.
> I hope nyaa bans people who use machine translation. It pointless and useless and can easily done by yourself (unless you are retard and lazy).
Sure, machine translations are not too hard if you can get your hands on the raw text. But machine translating the entire thing will result in a mess of random words that are barely comprehensible. Using MTL to create coherent English requires using multiple translators and various look-ups. You need to translate line by line and sometimes word by word all while considering context in order to determine what translation can fit.
There is no way you could "easily" auto translate the raw subs into something this coherent. Just running the blueray's subtitle images (not raw text) through SubtitleEdit results in this: https://files.catbox.moe/4pzccm.ass which has a lot of errors. Then using Google translate in SubtitleEdit creates this mess: https://files.catbox.moe/5lfzg0.ass
Some touch-ups to that could be simple, but it would still be no where near as coherent as the subs you are insulting. For these subs jumpman171 put in a LOT of effort.
if he's so smart and put in so much effort then why did he turn "茶化さんでくれよ 監視官" into 'I was watching during tea time."? the line has nothing to do with tea or watching anyone in the slightest.
Don't kid around... "I was watching during teatime" could be a legitimate deduction... even if it is apparently an incorrect one... And it's also the kind of mistranslation that does not have any actual impact on the context of what is being spoken about if you include the surrounding dialogue.
For that line Google pops out "Give me a tea ceremony" and breaking it up sectionally Google throws out things like: "tea," "come on," "give me," "watchman," and "surveillance officer." With the surrounding context and the fact that he was talking about what happened moments earlier while they were sitting around drinking tea... this mistranslation does contextually seem possible. So even if "tea time" might be a slightly weird way to phrase it, people who are not familiar with the Japanese phrase won't be too bothered by it.
If *this*, something that has little to no impact on what is being conveyed, is the prime example of a mistranslation... the entire translation might actually be better than I initially thought. Again, I don't know Japanese so I can't really weigh in on mistranslations, but I'd be more concerned if there are big mistranslations that actually impact the overall message of what is being said and or the understanding of the plot.
Note: I've just noticed this, but Google translate gives a slightly more accurate result "please tease me" if spaces are added in-between all the character. Is written Japanese really that weird? And lol, apparently adding spaces in-between all the characters and then adding an extra space after the where the よ will give a fairly accurate translation of "Don't tease me, inspector"... I'm so confused...
the correct translation is something like "please stop mocking me, inspector" or "gimme a break, inspector" or "please take this seriously, inspector." i haven't seen the movie so i don't know the right nuance. anyway, the key word here is 茶化す, which means to mock or make a joke out of. the line isn't written with the verb in a conjugation google can understand, so it doesn't recognize it, and thus it spits out nonsense. of course 茶 by itself does mean tea, but the kanji here is actually ateji, which means the meaning of the kanji isn't at all related to the meaning of the word and was instead picked for the phonetics only. if you "fix" it to "茶化さないでくれよ 監視官" then google can interpret it correctly. but if you know that much japanese, you shouldn't be using machine translation in the first place, so that's rather moot.
anyway, this is just one line. imagine how much is wrong. stop using machine translation you fucking idiots.
I pointed out some possible corrections to help you out earlier but I was surprised to see this 茶化す thing coming this far. Just make corrections as they’re necessary. There’s no such expression as “watching during tea time” either in English or Japanese, while 茶化す is an idiomatic expression. So please don’t kid yourself by 茶化す-ing our effort to make it right. Let us help if anyone wants to sub this. People can help you here.
Honestly, I don't feel like playing the versions game like I did with Case 1. If someone sends me a .ass with a fair amount of corrections or makes an improved/better torrent I'll probably just link it in the top of the description here. If I'm involved with a translation of Case 3 I'll try to reach out to you, lerusso, and some others to do a proof-watch before the subs are shared with the rest of the internet. jumpman171 might be continuing on to Case 3 in the near future, message him on reddit if you want to discuss that.
And just as an aside: I rationalized "I was watching during team time" as literally meaning "I was watching him when we had tea earlier" which contextually does make sense.
tbh there's no point in trying to correct a fundamentally flawed translation. it'd be more effort than translating from scratch. you should just delete this garbage.
@Padowu stop replying to these clowns. They don't even care about the actual movies, they're just more interested in spamming hate on anyone who does machine TLs.
Thanks for this. Not perfect but I'd rather have this than nothing.
>@Padowu stop replying to these clowns. They don’t even care about the actual movies, they’re just more interested in spamming hate on anyone who does machine TLs.
Folks gotta stop using the slang "hate" when it's convenient and lazy to avoid dealing with criticism concerning machine translation.
I'm not calling out for the ban of machine translations either since it's generally bad altogether but if nobody is interested in providing translated subs it's like the last desperate measure for folks who got no other choice at the cost of hoping that some sentences are correct let alone coherent. Especially how it is nowadays.
This really reminds me of the Lolfang and Gundam 00 saga. You are doing everyone a disservice because now they are going to get a different story than what it actually was. But I guess being delusional is the new "in" thing now.
For the mindless zombies coming to OP's defense, you might as well read a random book and say you watched the movie because that is exactly what you are getting.
Learn some fucking Japanese
I'm all for the criticism of machine translation. This isn't a great sub, I know. But there's literally no other sub for this movie out at the minute, so I (along with many people) gratefully appreciate these flawed subs to at least give us a decent idea of what happens in the movie, even if everything isn't always coherent.
@SnooSnoo THERE'S NO OTHER TRANSLATION OUT RIGHT NOW LOL it's better to get a sub with stuff that obscures the meaning of a few sentences than literally nothing. The whole "learn some Japanese" argument is the dumbest fucking thing I've ever heard, you can't pick up a new damn language that easily.
Anyone who isn't interested in the actual movie who is bashing this sub file needs to get a fucking life. Move on. You don't need to comment, it's just one damn entry on Nyaa and plenty of people appreciate it.
>they’re just more interested in spamming hate on anyone who does machine TLs.
holy shit stop acting like such fucking victims because someone said mean things about subs you merely are *watching*. you didn't even work on them, so why are you so defensive?
>But there’s literally no other sub for this movie out at the minute
have you considered that doing a machine translation like this is very fast and doesn't take much time compared to an actual translation and that's why it's the only release so far? i swear half you people have brain damage and don't even think about what you say.
Nobody is acting like a victim lol you’re not even interested in the movie but you’re constantly spamming about how MTLs are trash?? Jesus Christ why does this even matter to you??? Why are you so adamant on criticizing these (admittedly flawed) subs???
The raws have been out for a month now, and nobody is subbing these with actual TLs. Maybe they are, but we don’t know for sure. The fact that the only TLs are machine is proof that there probably won’t be any good subs anytime soon, and certainly not before Season 3 starts next week. You’re honestly such a clown, consider the topic and subject of the specific release before ranting about how machine TLs are bad. They are, but most people actually INTERESTED IN THE MOVIES (which you CLEARLY are not so I don’t even know why the fuck you’re in this thread) are happy to just have these to make some sense of the overall movie.
First of all, if someone watches MTL, that someone knows it. I watched both movies today and I knew the whole time that I can not use nuances to interpret the characters' motivations. But it was super easy to follow the whole thing, you get more information about the flawed system and flawed world building and some background infos for the different characters. That's fine and enough. The movies don't rely on word plays or dialogues like Monogatari, so what you get here is enough.
The translation is mostly on the same level as Sentai and maybe even better than HiDive - and while many thinks they are too bad to be watchable, they are also the only subs available for many shows and accepted in the community. This is a different time to compared last century and we don't have the active fansubber community anymore.Luckily things like GochiUsa and YuruYuri (OVAs) are getting still nice translations, but that is not the case for everything. If someone has a high standard today, every official translation is a no go and that means you can't watch the shows you want. The same goes for LN and manga (fan and official) translations and without the original lines spoken, you can't even proof-"hear" anymore, so isn't that much worse?
Learning Japanese is no argument neither, not everyone is a hikkikomori, doing nothing the whole day.
This is just google translated, there are SOOOO many things mistranslated in this movie, but that’s because i understand Japanese. I wouldn’t recommend this, and wont say it’s “passable”, as there many important details that aren’t translated correctly.
Thanks for doing what you are doing. The ones who complain of the quality/ grammar or anything just need to stop watching and commenting. Beggars cannot be choosers, especially when they are highly capable of doing what you did (in most probably a better way as well), yet they do not want to do anything but whine, whine and whine.
This is like tasting someone's cooking which is meant to be a service to unfortunate ones, then complain about it tasting worse than their mom's cooking and asking people to learn cooking from their mom. If you do not like something, it is not the creator's fault. You had every chance to create it too, but nope.. you are just a loser and lack courage to do anything as a service.
hikkis feeling threatened by machine translation, lmao. picking up on one line. generalizing from one case much? and you call others idiots when you don't use common logic. but that's what people feeling threatened do - react without logic.
oh, you're not feeling threatened? who spergs with dozen of comments and asks for banning? someone feeling threatened.
to the hikkis feeling threatened and acting as the gatekeepers of anything ("learn japanese idiots" shouts the basement-living, parent-fed troll) - with each passing day you become more irrelevant.
I, for one, welcome our machine overlords, especially since it will make you irrelevant - and in such a delicious fashion
Thanks to OP for their groundwork. I made corrections on several lines by myself and remuxed the raw I had. Voila, I enjoyed the entire movie with your subs. The movie was good. Thanks again. Hope one day someone make it better.
@sharenova, I have a dvd box, watched it in Japanese, translated a few lines to my liking, and watched the whole thing again with English subs. Call me a moron if you will. There’s a lot of ways to enjoy the movie, like it or not. I give you my love.
This is a good opportunity for those interested in this movie who maybe interested in providing a translation (even a few lines) and have others who know the language as well to contribute to finish the script for the community. That is if nobody else is gonna do it.
