When Kamiki Sekai moved to the city, he was just a martial arts maniac. But an encounter with Hoshino Fumina made him interested in Gunpla. Turns out Sekai’s martial arts is highly compatible with Gunpla battles, and since he loves fighting, he decided to join the club. And so began Sekai’s journey to become champion.

Most people, when discussing the Gundam Build franchise, consider Try as being very inferior to the first season. I am the opposite. I enjoyed Try far more then the first season, mostly because I couldn’t stand Sei. I also think that having a dedicated builder and fighter on the same team isn’t fair. And the “from another world” sub-plot turned out to be meaningless.

But Try? I had so much damn fun with it. The show is pure fanservice. From Shimon, who made the Destiny Gundam so much cooler then it’s own series ever did, to the absolute bat-shit insanity of Tryon 3, basically a super-robot in a gundam universe, to the magnificent final showdown between Transient and Build Burning… I have no words.

PS: Take note, anime industry: this is how you do a childhood friend/girl next door charatcer: Fumina was fantastic.

Subs: 01-13 from nks. 14-25 from Anime-Gundam, OVA from HS.

I liked both but ti annoyed me that all the tweaking software wise is done via imagination and somehow magnified via your skill as a builder…it just irked me as a moddder of games(a bad modder) I love to throw conspects and random idea’s into weapons, ect. That said thats is one hell of a way to sell kits/figures.

Try’s biggest issue IMO was just that because of the 3v3 system, a lot of characters didn’t really get to do much and that felt like a wank

Like, Fumina got to do her transformation and be super cool, and then be useless for the rest of the series. And don’t get me fucking started on how basically every fight is won with the exact same attack from Sekai over and over.

The few gems like Tryon-3 and Boxing Destiny were fucking amazing (and the reveal right at the end of the series when Sekai goes back to the mountains, that it was indeed “him” lmao), but man I just can’t say Try is better than Build Fighters when it was so crap to watch majority of the time. And I was a huge fan of Build Burning and Sekai so it was a shame they did so little with both of them.

Honestly Build Divers was pretty great/fun; the first episode is 100% atrocious because it’s just a dumb “Buy Gunpla today!” episode, but every episode outside of it was mostly either super fun, or dumb cool/fun. So long you weren’t watching the series incredibly seriously (which you should never be doing that with the Build series’), it was honestly probs on par with Build Fighters or somewhat better in some instances (Tigerwolf not giving a fuck about tropes during his 1v1 with Riku, Kyoya’s “Farewell loveless one”, etc.), and as dumb as it is, with Online Games / mobage / everyone-copying-SAO, it was a hell of a lot easier for them to get away with doing certain things as everyone is just used to that shit already lmao

Never said that Try is better then the first. Just that I enjoyed it more.

And I couldn’t stand Divers BECAUSE it was online. The building of the model was completely meaningless at that point. So much so that I actually agreed with the antagonist for the 1st half. The 2nd half was stupid because they kept saying it would be the end of the game. Just copy the damn account data and start a fresh server, you twats!

Yeah the plot was dumb but as I said, so long you weren’t taking it seriously it was super fun lmao

Kyoya is easily one of my fave overall Build series characters, and then other characters like Ogre and Tigerwolf (+ Shahry somewhat) were also great. And lets not forget Ayame even if the series started forgetting her after a while lol

The Break decal guy was also pretty great given what they believed was something genuinely believed by a lot of people IRL.

I get what you mean by “building a model became irrelevant”, but honestly it was never really too relevant in the first place, they just tried to make it seem like it mattered.

Sekai literally gets his Gundam because somehow Sei managed to build a gunpla and then cover it in parts for another completely different Gunpla. And half the time any character would pull out a technique out of their ass that apparently they had planned well and truly in advance 100% off screen. At least Divers had the mind to acknowledge that that stuff was always super skimmed over, and just mostly cut it all together lol

Fun fact: you actually CAN build the Burning and stuff it inside a Dom.

No fucking way, that I gotta see

unpopular opinion: this is the best gundam build series

edit:

oh wait you already said it. cool

@indomeme
i actually enjoyed divers the most, but i’d still technically place this one higher in terms of quality and plot

The best thing about the original series was everything Meijin Kawaguchi did lmao

And of course the Felini v Reiji episode, that shit had me near tearing up back when it aired

Maxine: Dose not compute, Can’t stand Divers I like Seed more and I hate Seed LOL
I guess I do the same I dislike AOT but like SAO and most harem shows LOL

@DmonHiro: Do you have “Gundam Build Fighters” up your sleeve as well?
