Thanks to them for elaborating Chinese subtitles and settings book. The picture quality of Princess Principal's Blu-ray is quite awful, and looks medieval, perhaps trying to match up with the historical background of the story. It resembles an ancient DVD where the effective resolution is lower than 720p. For example, the thickness of lines is uneven, together with aliasing and discontinuity. There are strong ringing artifacts near the lines and bandings in the flat area. In order to fix the artifacts, we applied anti-aliasing, line-darkening, broken-line-connection and de-ringing. Furthermore we applied de-banding and texture-enhancement to the flat areas to increase the overall clarity of the picture. It is tough to make lines smoother and more clarified, for which I spend a long time to design a method to connect broken lines and darken them. Hopefully I would never encounter such source in the future and if there is... let someone else deal with it... As for the theatrical version in the upcoming year, I'll see you again if it deems fit.
