Are these subs better than Central-Anime's?

@SSJLuffy The reason I grabbed these was that Central Anime subs had so many mistakes in the first few episodes I watched. That said, this is also not exactly perfect. But at least from the first few episodes, I would pick these subs over Central Anime. Also I should probably note that most of the later episodes haven't been tested. Quality may vary, and there could be possible timing issues since processing the Hidive subs has been largely an automated thing. @Oreldo I'm sorry. No can do. I already dropped my free trial.

@SSJLuffy Actually there weren't that many mistakes in the Central Anime episodes. Mostly a different perspective by a different translator. But if you were happy with CA's you needn't worry about this set. We did our best at the time and put a lot of work into subtitling a difficult series. And we subtitle the missing captions since we had the LDs to fall back on to add them. Not to mention our name spelling uses the LD versions not the novel or recent new take on the names.

@Heibi I actually haven't seen LOGH yet, been on my radar for a very long time though and was just curious if these were better than your subs - as in more consistent or something since I don't doubt CA's ability to sub. I have taken a glance at the first episodes or so and they seem pretty similar just some different wording and name spellings - gives the same message overall though and one thing I can say I love about yours are the name captions. Seems like it'll be helpful for a series with a hundred characters or more to remember. @starjet Thanks for the upload and responding quick. Whether I use these or not I appreciate the rip of them this way people have options to choose from. How did you rip the subs anyway? I know nothing about that process.

PSA: Hidive's streaming version of LOGH and Sentai's new Blu-Ray box set both use the same subs, which are missing the character and location identifiers. According to reports, both the Japanese and the English text is missing from the master files provided to Sentai, hence why this was sadly overlooked.

We(CA) added the captions in our DVD release using the LD versions that we had.

@Heibi Interesting. Do you mean to say that officially, they've been missing entirely since the original Japanese DVD releases, i.e. the remastering? Wow. Also, do you mind if I source you on Reddit for this? O.o

@Heibi Are you really so fucking weak that every time someone criticizes the CA subs you have to run in like "N-no, ours were better!!!!" despite the countless times it's been proven that the CA subs are riddled with tons of errors that don't even make sense?

Translation is a tricky thing, and I'm just a beginning student of Japanese. I can't really judge the quality of either translation in terms of accuracy, but I can say that the Hi-Dive subs read way better.

I feel like a piece of shit for stealing them, though.
